A great place in a stunning location I’ve been coming to Arran for 50 years but this was the first time staying at Lochranza. Cath and Mac are excellent and welcoming hosts and thanks again to Cath for graciously accommodating our later than planned check in. Butt Lodge is a comfortable and stylish guest house; our room (Hutton) was spacious, well-appointed and spotlessly clean, with a lovely range of teas and coffees. Breakfast was terrific and we really enjoyed our delicious dinner – Mac is a great chef! We woke to sheep wandering the grounds and deer and a stag grazing on the adjacant golf course – what a great way to start the day! Butt Lodge is a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend.

2nd Visit - won't be the last ! Second time we have road tripped the highlands and stayed with Cath and Mac at Butt Lodge, definitely won't be the last ! This has got to be one of THE nicest of places to stay on Arran. Stylish house, well cared for rooms, great hosts and excellent food. Where else could you open your curtains in the morning and watch the Stags wandering across the golf course, sit having breakfast looking out over a fantastic vista, whilst enjoying a great selection of foods. The hosts can't do enough to ensure your stay is top notch, so so friendly and welcoming (even Ginger the cat makes you welcome) ! It's a great location for walking and exploring , not many minutes from the Lochranza ferry, 5 minutes stroll to the Arran Distillery all in all, very much recommended . Thanks Cath & Mac for making our stay wonderful again, see you soon . Mike & Penny Eammon & Debbie

Excellent - Just perfect for our needs Stopped for one overnight ( 6 of us) via our cycle around Arran. The rooms were well appointed , spotless and we had a good super hot shower in our ensuite. Cath and Matt were excellent hosts. Friendly , acommodating ( even allowing us our quirky request of getting a guitar dropped off for our evening entertainment) . Breakfast and dinner was fantastic. All our wee idiosyncrasies on the food front catered for . Nothing was any trouble for Cath and chef Matt. Location for Lochranza Ferry , golf, pub , distillery all within 5-10 mins walk. Wouldnt hesitate to book again.

Fabulous!! We had the most wonderful 3 nights at Butt Lodge staying in the Newton Suite which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Cathy and Mac are fabulous hosts and we’ve been home for a week and are still talking about Mac’s amazing food!! Please please go and experience this wonderful guest house for yourself and make sure you have the evening meals because I promise you won’t be disappointed, this is seriously good top restaurant standard food cooked by Mac and served always with a smile by Cath. Honestly can’t rate them both highly enough, we’ll definitely be back.

Top quality boutique in stunning location We were in the castle suite which was every bit as good as it looked on the website photos, fantastic views across the golf course onto the hills. Cath and Mac & family were very welcoming and Macs menus and quality of food were outstanding and very reasonably price. As all meals are prepared fresh cooked to order, Mac was able to accommodate my dairy free requirements. The owners have a good knowledge of the surrounding area, and were able to recommend good walks which we enjoyed. Would definitely recommend a stay at Butt Lodge.

Fantastic We had a lovely experience here, nothing was too much, the bedroom was very comfortable, I loved the fact that the plugs had usb ports in them. Great choice of coffee and tea in the room and fresh milk 😁. What can I say about breakfast it the choice was unbelievable so much and it was made fresh and really set us up for the day. Would I recommend most definitely yes. Getting to Butt Lodge is up a single track but it only services a couple of properties so you probably not meet anyone (it is a bit bumpy) please do not let that put you off staying at this accommodation you will love it 😁

Magical, peaceful place to stay on Arran Butt Lodge was our first stop on our trip to Arran in the delightful little village/town of Lochranza, on the north side of the island. Cath and Mac were so welcoming on our arrival for our two night stay there and they took us to our lovely, clean and well decorated room in a COVID-safe manner. The service we received was second to none and one of the highlights for us was the fantastic, delicious breakfast they provide. All of the produce is fresh and tasty, and they also provide an amazing selection that accompanies the breakfast, like freshly baked pain au chocolates, which were just delightful. We only wished that we'd had booked evening meals there also because every time we had to leave to drive to our restaurant reservation elsewhere on the island, we had to walk through Butt Lodge's reception area and the cooking smells were just beautiful. Great value for money also, as they did a deal when we stayed. We had a special time on Arran and Butt Lodge was part of that. We will remember the hospitality, kindness and warmth shown by Cath and Mac forever. Thank you so much for our stay. Hopefully we will return in the future. Rob & John (mid-October 2021).
